K'ckel was a Sangheili junior researcher at an armory on Qikost, one of Sanghelios' two natural satellites. He was the cousin of Vil 'Kthamee, a Ranger in the Covenant military—although it was possible that the two were brothers, since Sangheili did not know their true fathers. During his career, K'ckel worked with several Forerunner ancilla after the signing of the Writ of Union. K'ckel found these artificial intelligences to be "disturbed", and while most of them had been only partly functioning, they increased morale as they spoke of the Forerunners.[1]
