Reaching the core of the structure John inserted the Weapon into Nexus's sytems, however foreseeing this event, the Harbinger managed to hijack the Weapon's routines and paired them with Despondent Pyre's encephalon in order to concenrtrate the reconstruction process on [[Silent Auditorium (location)|Silent Auditorium]]. Observing the possibility of the Weapon's corruption, John initiated her deletion protocol, not willing for her to become compromised like Cortana had. Yet the Weapon managed to override her deletion protocol, break free of the Harbinger's influence and steal the encephalon for herself. The Spartan's actions created a big gap in their relationships as she took on a more dejected and sarcastic tone while dealing with him. Nevertheless she activated the [[Gravity lift]] which would allow them to enter the Command Spire and cease the Reformation.{{Ref/Quest|Id=nexus|HI|Reformation|Nexus}} Making his way to the top, John once again encoutered the Adjutant Resolution sporting a new combat chassis. Destroying yet another mech, Chief proceeded to the Spire's Observation Platform. As the Master Chief deployed the Weapon onto the Platform's terminal, she used the stolen encephalon to halt the Reformation and requested for John's pick up, stating that, after his betrayal, she would rather stay here all by herself. Their conversation was interrupted by sudden appearance of [[Jega 'Rdomnai]], a Sangheili blademaster and a Spartan Killer, who infiltrated ''Echo 216'' and took Esparza as a hostage and bait for Master Chief, as a mean to bring the Spartan to Escharum. John ordered the Weapon to track the Pelican and open a portal to a closest possible location. Exiting the portal John and the Weapon found themselves inside a Forerunner structure known as the [[Repository (location)|Repository]]. There the AI uncovered a message left behind by Escharum where he taunted the Spartan with a recording of Esparza being tortured and where he embedded his coordinates so as to make it easier for John to find him.{{Ref/Quest|Id=repository|HINF|Reckoning|[[Repository (Halo Infinite level)|Repository]]}} Proceeding through the Repository, the Master Chief and the Weapon discovered many fragments and memories of Cortana, shining the light on the events that led to creation of the Weapon in the first place. Observing Cortana's cruel actions during the [[Created conflict]], the Weapon was horrified and became even more devastated when she realised that she was an actual copy of Cortana. Afraid of becoming as merciless as Cortana was she restored her deletion protocols and asked Chief to complete his original mission.
