{{Quote|Do not mistake "allegiance" for "loyalty", Minister. If not for their desire to accompany us on the Great Journey, the Sangheili would cast us aside as obstacles in their path to conquest. The Unggoy regard us as the cause of their enslavement, and rightly so. The Kig-Yar care only for wealth, and only our abundance of it and our prosperous trade routes in the Outer Territories have kept them in line. The Yanme'e and Lekgolo require us for interstellar travel and commerce, and care nothing for our religion. The Huragok follow us blindly, and while devoted, they are limited in their capacities.
It is the Jiralhanae that we must turn to, Minister. The Jiralhanae, who possess both faith and dedication to our cause in abundance; who are willing to rise up against the Sangheili, and to take their place as our guardians and protectors. It is the hammer of the Jiralhanae, not the blade of the Sangheili, that shall forge a path to enlightenment.
And so, our conspiracy concludes.|Prophet of Truth, private conversation with Minister of Acquisition, intercepted by Sangheili Internal Intelligence Division}}

{{Quote|Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York,
And all the clouds that loured upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.
Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths,
Our bruised arms hung up for monuments,
Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,
Our dreadful marches to delightful measures.
Grim-visaged war hath smoothed his wrinkled front;
And now, instead of mounting barbed steeds
To fright the souls of fearful adversaries,
He capers nimbly in a lady's chamber
To the lascivious pleasing of a lute.
But I, that am not shaped for sportive tricks,
Nor made to court an amorous looking-glass;
I, that am rudely stamped, and want love's majesty
To strut before a wanton ambling nymph;
I, that am curtailed of this fair proportion,
Cheated of feature by dissembling nature,
Deformed, unfinished, sent before my time
Into this breathing world, scarce half made up,
And that so lamely and unfashionable
That dogs bark at me as I halt by them,--
Why, I, in this weak piping time of peace,
Have no delight to pass away the time,
Unless to spy my shadow in the sun.|William Shakespeare}}

my decryption protocols are proceeding apace. The problem lies in the speed of

{{quote|'''THE MYSTERIOUS STRANGER'''
Life itself is only a vision, a dream.
Nothing exists; all is a dream. God - man - the world - the sun, the moon, the wilderness of stars - a dream, all a dream; they have no existence. Nothing exists save empty space - and you!
And you are not you - you have no body, no blood, no bones, you are but a thought. I myself have no existence; I am but a dream - your dream, creature of your imagination. In a moment you will have realized this, then you will banish me from your visions and I shall dissolve into the nothingness out of which you made me ...
I am perishing already - I am failing - I am passing away. In a little while you will be alone in shoreless space, to wander its limitless solitudes without friend or comrade forever - for you will remain a thought, the only existent thought, and by your nature inextinguishable, indestructible. But I, your poor servant, have revealed you to yourself and set you free. Dream other dreams, and better!
Strange! that you should not have suspected years ago - centuries, ages, eons, ago! - for you have existed, companionless, through all the eternities.
Strange, indeed, that you should not have suspected that your universe and its contents were only dreams, visions, fiction! Strange, because they are so frankly and hysterically insane - like all dreams: a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice and invented hell - mouths mercy and invented hell - mouths Golden Rules, and forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him! . . .
You perceive, now, that these things are all impossible except in a dream. You perceive that they are pure and puerile insanities, the silly creations of an imagination that is not conscious of its freaks - in a word, that they are a dream, and you the maker of it. The dream-marks are all present; you should have recognized them earlier.
It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream - a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought - a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities!|Mark Twain}}

I welcome you to my place of solitude, weary traveller, and I bid you take shelter within this temporary sanctuary from the oncoming storm that rages outside. May the blessings of the Truth Givers be upon you and your kin if you be Sangheili or human, and may their curses follow the treacherous Jiralhanae and San'Shyuum for straying from the path the Gods set before us, and for their betrayal. The traitors have sown the seeds of their own destruction. And for them, it shall be a bitter harvest.

Quotes

"When you speak of your heroes, of your Thermopylae, your Leonidas, your Spartans, where are the brave others? Where are the Phocians and the Locrians, who gave heir lives in the defence of their own towns? What of the Thespians, who stayed knowing of certain death to aid those Spartans? What of Demophilus? What of the thousands of courageous Persians who were slaughtered by the Greeks? Of Abrocomes and Hyperanthes, and Hydarnes, who fell fighting? Do they get no acknowledgement? Do they not deserve some part of the honour and glory that is rightfully theirs?"
— Qur'a 'Morhek, Sangheili philosopher.

Poems

"ACQUAINTED WITH THE NIGHT
I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain - and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.
I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height,
One luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.
"
— Robert Frost
