- Becoming a ship captain means you have some level of competency (unless you're CDR Miranda Keyes). I'm not saying that he's dumb either as all senior officers go through a myriad of training regimens, simply that he makes incredibly poor decisions as a commander of a cR hemorrhaging warship housing nearly 20,000 crew. - At the very least, in The Thursday War, it's established that Parangosky doesn't have too high an opinion of Del Rio and would have preferred Lasky as the ship commander (or something similar, been awhile since I've read the excerpt).
