Ocular implant
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
An ocular implant is a type of artificial eye used by the UNSC to replace damaged eyes. The process is likely similar to that of a ocular prosthesis; however, it provides the user with functional vision as well as the physical eye itself. Black-One, the Spartan-II leader of Black Team, required an ocular implant after a "brawl" with rival SPARTAN-II trainees damaged her left eye.[1]
Other kinds of ocular implants available to human civilians were retinal implants, sold by cybernetics companies specializing in vision-restoring technology. Unlike full ocular replacements, retinal implants augmented or replaced the photoreceptors of the retina within the natural eyeball.
Bakari the librarian, a former UNSC Marine, lost his sight during the Covenant War and later purchased retinal implants from a Sydney-based cybernetics company. His artificial replacements were disabled in 2558 when the Created deployed a Guardian's pulse over Sydney, rendering him blind once more. While Bakari awaited an appointment with Optican to help restore his vision again, he relied on a tablet that translated text into tactile braille.[2]
