The '''Killtastrophe''' medal is awarded for killing eight opponents within four seconds of each other in standard [[multiplayer]] games (and ''[[Halo: Spartan Assault]]'') and within less time in [[campaign]] and [[Firefight]]. In ''[[Halo 4]]'' multiplayer and [[Spartan Ops]] the kills need only be within 4.5 seconds of each other.

Originally, the medal was represented by eight silver stars on a light blue circle. In ''Halo 4'' it is represented by eight white stars on a brown circle rimmed with orange and brown. The medal is monochrome and imposed on a shield in ''Halo: Spartan Assault''. It is also emblazoned with only seven stars, and differing only from the [[Killimanjaro|Killamanjaro]] medal by an unshaded section at the bottom of the shield.

This medal is extremely hard to get because of the combined difficulty of killing eight players in a row without getting killed within a certain time limit. One method of earning the medal is to wait at a common place and ambush incoming players. This only works if there are a large number of players. 

Another option in ''[[Halo 3]]'' is throwing a [[TR/9_Antipersonnel_Mine|Trip Mine]] into a group of enemies. To further this effect, throw a [[grenade]] with the Trip Mine. This will cause more damage and finish off people who have their shields down from the Trip Mine.
