About the Pictured Device[edit]

Okay, I feel this should be addressed. As I have already linked this image to the Edward Davis article, we need to figure if the present filename remains, or if it should be moved to an alternate filename, something like "File:HSA-ForerunnerDevice.jpg" or somesuch. But while on this subject, is it possible someone could speak to 343 Industries and somehow a get a positive ID on this screenshot? Is it a Durance, or is it something else? --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 14:24, 1 April 2014 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Forgot to add: If they are willing, could they also provide something like an email that we can link to as a source citation to prove this? --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 14:30, 1 April 2014 (EDT)Xamikaze330
This is why filenames on media are not to be treated with definite titles (such as the current filename) and should be given generic/general titles (i.e. HSA cutscene 03.jpg, HSA cutscene 04.jpg and so on) unless you have actual confirmation of such definite titles. I do apologise as this is not really answering any of your queries.— subtank 09:00, 3 April 2014 (EDT)
Dr Mutran is heavy on the guess work. Which reminds me...Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 09:08, 3 April 2014 (EDT)
I've already asked Stephen Loftus to ask 343 Industries about it, and he said he'd add it to his list of inquiries, or something along those lines. Won't expect a reply very soon, as they are a very busy people. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 20:37, 3 April 2014 (EDT)Xamikaze330
UPDATE: I believe this has been addressed in a fairly old yet still recent Halo Waypoint Bulletin (I can't seem to find the link) that addresses this issue. If I remember correctly, someone asked about the device seen at the end of Halo: Spartan Assault and what it was, and I believe it was confirmed to not be a Durance. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. And please, if you find that link, please post it! --Xamikaze330, Halopedia Team Talk 13:46, 25 July 2014 (EDT)Xamikaze330

"Durance" seems to be a pretty broadly applied term for anything used to house a digitized consciousness (from familial, urn-type ritual items to the mind storage substrates of combat robots). I really see no issue with identifying this thing as a Durance since it quite clearly is one (unless confirmed otherwise, though I doubt it). --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 10:39, 21 August 2014 (EDT)
