A '''template''' on Halopedia is a preset chunk of coding used on Halopedia that denotes a page's certain attribute. What does that mean? For example, if you want to add the Covenant Ages to an article, the template known as <nowiki>{{Ages}}</nowiki> (see to the right) can be inserted into the page. When the page is saved, the output can be seen at right.

<!-- start of floated right section -->
<div style="border: 1px solid #ccd2d9;text-align: left; background: #f0f6fa; padding: 0.5em 1em;">
<!-- start of slate grey box -->
<table style="background: transparent;">
<tr><td><BiG>'''Covenant History'''</BiG></td></tr>
<tr>
<td>
*[[Age of Abandonment]]
*[[Age of Conflict]]
*[[Age of Discovery]]
*[[Age of Doubt]]
*[[Age of Reconciliation]]
*[[Age of Conversion]]
*[[Age of Reclamation]]</td>
</tr></table>
</div><!-- end of slate grey box -->
</div><!-- end of floated right section; article starts here -->
