Ranks

Hey ed do you think all the ranks are right ?And if you do can you put a stop to the deletion crap and stuff?--Ryanngreenday 21:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

The problem is, we have no difinitive rank scheme. The ranks that have been mentioned so far are all american ranks, but we don't know for sure if they are the only ranks. We've never seen a specific, citeable chart depicting all the ranks. For all we know, there could be a "third lieutenant" or a "technical sergeant" in the Marine ranks. We just don't know for sure. That's why the ranks will probably have controversy attatched to them until Bungie comes out and says for sure that the rank system is the same as today's american system. -ED 23:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Whats Frankie's email? I must email him!--JohnSpartan117 23:38, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure all letters for stuff like this goes to the Bungie.net webmaster(webmaster@bungie.com) but there's no gurentee he will answer it. Thay usually just post emails in the weekly update to make fun of people and dodge questions. -ED 23:53, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Can we make a project page to make a letter?--JohnSpartan117 01:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Go ahead. How about Halopedia: Letter to Bungie -ED 01:17, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Ill start it now.--JohnSpartan117 05:19, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Vandal

OK, Thanks. -ED 01:44, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

always glad to help.--JohnSpartan117 03:53, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Nice Layout!

Hey man, nice Layout, can you help me get something like this?--JohnSpartan117 06:34, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Sure. You can see the code for my pages by clicking "edit" or "view source" and copy it to your page, then just change the text. It's really pretty easy. -ED 01:25, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. One last thing, what happened to the "Halo Mapping Project".--JohnSpartan117 02:45, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't know. I had nothing to do with that project, so I don't really know anything about it. -ED 03:02, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Do you know anyone who might know?--JohnSpartan117 02:11, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Nope. -ED 19:52, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps Esemono, who linked to it. --Dragonclaws 20:51, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Vulgar Language

Dear sir,

I have found problems with the Fist of Rukt regarding a statement saying that I should "rot in the pits of hell". This can be found at the following link to his talk page.

Relentless Honor for Work on Sangheili Article

Sir, for your exceptional, persistent work on the Elite article, I present to you... Template:Relentless Honor You may place it on your user page.

Respectfully,

RelentlessRecusantFile:Jedi Order.jpg 20:09, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Why thanks. I haven't really done much work on that article lately, though. The Halos is currently my prideful accomplishment. -ED 21:09, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
You gonna add the award to your userpage? =D Cheers, RelentlessRecusantFile:Jedi Order.jpg 02:23, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
his work on The Halos article
Gave you another one for your good work on the aforementioned articles. This is for an extremely productive Halopedia user, a sincere materialization of your elevation within my eyes, Ed. Cheers, RelentlessRecusantFile:Jedi Order.jpg 02:24, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Why not. I appreciate your recognition. -ED 02:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

No, thanks. -ED 02:08, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Few Questions.

Are you back from your vacation? Also if you dont even have an Xbox or play Halo....why are you so dedicated to Halopedia?--User:JohnSpartan117 [1] 01:54, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Heh, yeah I'm back, though not in the same 50-edit a day capacity as I was; I think I did a pretty good job at transcribing every detail from the books to the wiki, so I cant really be as active as I was since theres not as much for me to do.
I'd have to say I'm still dedicated to Halopedia just because the story of halo is amazing. I have/play Halo PC and go to plenty of Halo parties, but never got around to getting an Xbox. I'm really thinking of getting a 360 when Halo 3 and/or Halo wars come out though, and I'll probably get Halo 2 Vista (I borrowed my friend's xbox and beat Halo 2). So, I still play the games a lot, and I like the storyline. -ED 19:52, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Makes sense. Would you like to play Warcraft with me?--User:JohnSpartan117 [2] 05:19, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Sure. Do you have a battle.net account? -ED 00:05, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, its JohnSpartan-117--User:JohnSpartan117 [3] 02:29, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I think I found you. Your in clan "Rude"? Ill add you to my friends list and message you if I ever see you online, but I'll admit, I mostly play Ladder games, and I've never played DotA. -ED 19:30, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
 • I think you got the wrong guy, Im not in a clan. Damn, you dont play Dota....well what can you play? Cause DOTa is my main game.--User:JohnSpartan117 [4] 12:33, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, I never got into the DotA craze early on, and now i geet booted wherever I go to download it. I spend most of my time doing actual games...Level 27 Random Team. I do a lot of 3v3 games nowadays, its really the most fun way to play. -ED 02:07, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Email

Ed can you turn on your email please! -- Esemono 15:10, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Done. -ED 22:49, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Also

Your tabs at the top of your page seem to be out of wack. I tried to find what it was and it appears that its RR Triple Kill template as when I removed it everything went back to normal. However the weird thing is it only appears to effect your page. Anyway maybe its just on Firefox my browser. -- Esemono 15:29, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I noticed that too. I guess the best thing to do is just no nowiki it. Its on my userpage anyway. -ED 22:49, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Didn't Esemono fix that?! Cheers, 49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 03:14, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
He found the way to fix it, but for some reason, my page was still acting up with it there, so I just nowikied it. -ED 19:30, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Legendary

Wikias are horrid places. There are always vandals, power-abusive admins (on other sites, not this), idiots who think that know everything and make amends to articles w/o actually considering references, so on and so forth. I have found no such characteristics in you, Ed. Every Halo: Ghosts of Onyx article has already been conceived by you. Hell, most articles of this Wikia are your children, offspring so numerous that they seed the stars.

You are the one I hold in highest esteem. None sing praises of you, and I feel that your desolation can not end, as I continue to uncover your unceasing work.

Therefore, I proclaim you Legendary: higher than all users. As the chronometer looms closer, drawn to the New Year, I believe it is time to herald the greatest Halopedian that has ever stood: a brazen, fearless one who has labored for so long in such darkness, never faltering, never heralding your work.

I am honored to give you the following accolade: Template:Legendary

With utmost sincerity and respect,

49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 18:44, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
p.s. - happy holidays!!
p.s.s. - you may add this to your userpage

I appreciate that very much. Thank you, and happy holidays, RR. -ED 19:30, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Darned Vandal

I was wondering...I still have no idea who is an admin here and who isn't, but you seem to be one, so I figured I'd point it out to you. User:71.199.231.6 has blanked RR's user page twice today, as well as his talk page once. Figured you'd like to know.--Rot 00:58, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Esemono warned him. I he does anything else, He'll get blocked. -ED 03:07, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

your userpage

" think our community is perfect as it is right now. We have a hundred or so active users, most of whom visit Halopedia from time to time, and so we do not suffer the problems of larger wikis, such as Memory-Alpha and Wikipedia. There are few edit wars, vandalism is relatively rare, and Halopedia, I think, embodies what the wiki is supposed to be: constructive, interesting, and enjoyable."
— ED

I think the contrary.

Anyways, happy holidays!

Cheers,

49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 21:24, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, how quickly times change. Oh well. Happy Holidays, everyone! -ED 01:40, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Happy New Year!

I know that one such as I can give very little, but I have a small present: Template:Admin.

See what happens when you place it on your userpage.

Cheers,

49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 03:23, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

You happy? Sorry for nothing more substantial...=S...=D Happy New Year! Cheers, 49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 03:36, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
I like it. subtle and to the point. -ED 04:59, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to say, I havent got that much of it typed yet, only about the first chapter, and that's only a second draft. I can send you the second chapter if you'd like to see it. -ED 04:59, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
yeah, that's be fantastico. Cheers, 49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 21:18, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

FanArt Committee

You have been selected by the Halopedia community to judge which fanart images will be allowed to be used on this site. Please cast your vote for the disputed images shown on the Halopedia:FanArt Rulings page. -- Esemono 15:57, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Anti-Matter Bomb?

Hey, ED, I see you've worked on the aforementioned article. Do you have a source for the name? Thanks!

Cheers,

49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 17:26, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I believe the original article was taken from the Halo Library site, and the source would have to be Halo 2, level Cairo Station. -ED 21:00, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Halo Fanstuff

I have proposed a wiki called the Halo Fanstuff. Now if they accept it, I propose that we work together. You guys would be the Knowledge base of the Halo Wiki and we would be the Fanstuff.--H*bad 17:08, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I already submitted a proposal to Wikia administration approximately a week ago. They should get back within a week of today, Tuesday. Cheers, 49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 18:41, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Well I created a scratchpad of it. Halo fanstuff. Hey maybe you and I could work together and put together the wiki.--H*bad 18:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
What would be the subject matter of the wiki? -ED 19:59, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
It is people making Fanstuff/Fanon about the Halo Universe. Located here.--H*bad 05:54, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
How would you intigrate the fanon together? or would you just make a giant fanon project similar to Halopedia:Halo Wars? Is seems to me that a forum is better format for fanfiction, not a wiki. -ED 06:15, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
It doesn't have to be together. It is separate stories that you want to make up. For fun. A forum isn't good enough because of many different reasons, 1, it's not popular on Forums, because it's boring there. 2, it's easier to make a fan fiction on a wiki than just some forum, trust me I would know.--H*bad 04:25, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

S.O.S.!

You'll be pleased<cough cough>to know that someone is teading upon your intellectual genius! That's not everyone besides R-R! <hehe...gulps>

I've repurposed your uber-sick user page coding onto my user page <looks the other way and hides>, but at the end, after my tag saying that stuff's wrong...the box doesn't ented to the far side of the page.

Can you see what's wrong please?

Thanks.

Cheers,

49 Proximal Secant[oracle]File:H3 Monitor.PNG 02:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Heh heh, yeah my page is cool like that. Well your userpage looks fine on my browser, the boxes line up and all do the same thing. I don't see what you mean... -ED 19:58, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Spec Ops Commander?

Ed, to tell you the truth, I was kind of skeptical that SOC was an Elite rank, but from experience from Wookieepedia, until two things, ranks or ships, have been explicitly confirmed to be equal, i.e. SOC and Ultra in our case, two seperate pages are constructed.

Thanks.

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 17:02, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

It has never been implied in any way that they are different. The only "difference" that was given between them was that Half-Jaw's armor looked "a little lighter". That could be just as easily explained by the ambient lighting of the images, or just because we don't have any actualy game screenshots of a regular Ultra to compare to, so the writer compared Half-Jaw to the images on the Ultra page. It could also be that, since they designed the Half-Jaw model from the ground up, they made a mistake, or that is just how the game renders the model. There are a million reasons why the armor "looking" lighter could have been unintentional/made-up, and only one far fetched reason why it could. Making two seperate articles for this nonsense is reading way to far between the lines and making things up. Ultras are seen everywhere, commanding all kinds of forces, including the SpecOps. -ED 23:18, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

RE:Template:Elite Ranks

it's a rather radical change, but I can't disagree. I think both look kinda stylish, so it's your call, bossman, Ed, Mr. Administrator, sir, excellency, Mr. Administrator of Halopedia, one whose userpage was ripped off by a user who's known as RR, someone that's made a helluva number of pages, or WHATEVER TITLE YOU WANT! =D ;D

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 00:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

fanart

Our little disagreement in the fanart topic was getting a little out of hand, so I'm just going to ask you here: What exactly constitutes that an image be classified as fanart? What exactly constitutes that an image classified as fanart be voted upon as to whether it is kept or deleted? Because as far as anyone else can tell, the Seraph picture is only fanart in that the model was taken out of the game and rendered from a good angle with different lighting and a background. Dojorkan actually said that it's probably classified as fanart because it wasn't an official picture released by Bungie. If this is the case, then every single unofficial game screenshot should be voted upon as well before it can be used. Even if you allow multiplayer screenshots, there are other modded screenshots that have been left untouched by the fanart committee, and it just gets confusing. If you can answer those questions, it would be greatly appreciated, and putting them on the fanart page would also be most helpful. guesty-persony-thingy 02:54, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh. I wasn't really mad or anything I was just saying...Anyways, Fan Art is usually considered to be anything that was created outside of Bungie resources. All screenshots, most mods using material on the Halo disk, and all images from the Canon sources are not fanart, but any drawings, graphics, animations, or other things are considered fanart because they were completely created by fans. The Seraph Image is considered fanart because, though the seraph shown is based on the one that appears in the game, it isn't. It was likely designed and rendered entirely by a fan and not made from modding. It's in a gray area, so the fanart comittee gets to decide it.
Of course, you'rte talking to me, probably the hard-liner of the comittee. I don't think any non-screenshots are needed on Halopedia, and usually vote that way. For clarification, though, I should create an Image Policy. -ED 20:03, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I had an idea

I’ve had an amazing idea; As certain Users have more knowledge in different areas of the Halo Universe why not chose a main user to keep an eye on, watch over those certain articles e.g. the star ship articles Relentless worked hard on, or all the weapon articles. They would be like Semi Admins with no privileges it would just be their job to make sure that there was no Fan Fiction or over vandalism in their articles and start up votes for articles deletion or merging; Users could go to them to refure data and so on. They could be chosen by the Admins or elected by the users meaning starting up campaigns which would be very amusing. And given Titles to fit their job e.g. Imperial Admiral it was just a thought. --Climax Viod 15:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Users do a lot to put themselves in charge of specific areas. I wouldn;t think that to be necessary. -ED 20:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

BAN THE AFOREMENTIONED USER!!!

And do you know of any ways to become an admin on this Wiki, as I would definately contribute to vandal-fighting (like now), and would use any admin powers judiciously to further the combating of nonsense-spouting on this site?

User:Editcount/editcount.js

I've already left a message on User talk:Esemono regarding unprotection of the page, but I haven't received a reply yet. I'm wondering if you can look into User talk:Esemono#User:Editcount/editcount.js. Thanks. G.He(Talk!) 20:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

whoa!

I meant not to offend you, Ed.

I understand that Halopedia's not exactly any other Wikia, but implore you to look at Wikipedia and Halopedia. For all fictional battles (ie: in our case, Halo), it's the Battle of Whattevergoesinhere.

<shrugs>

Just my thoughts.

RelentlessRecusant 23:13, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Copy that. Please accept my apologies. I shalt spilleth no heretic anaethma nevermore! (yes, that's a double negative and means I WILL, but ya gte the point - I won't). BTW, ya know a lot regarding WWII? Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 23:26, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Hah I wasn't mad, I was just getting to the point. And yeah, I know a lot about WWII because I have 2 years experience in high school ROTC and I'm enrolled in ROTC for college next fall, too. I have to know a lot about these things. -ED 23:28, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

MediaWiki?

Hey Ed, do you know howta get that box up on top of articles that's under the MediaWiki jurisdiction?

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 23:16, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

The only box on top of articles on my browser is the title of the article...You know more than me about that...-ED 23:30, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Umm...like on other Wikias, they have boxes proclaiming important events on top of every article when they place such MediaWiki thingies...? Later. Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 23:31, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, that. Porplemontage and Dragonclaws usually work the public announcement board, its only accessible to admins. Did you want to put something on it?-ED 23:33, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, as you can see, we've been challenged by Bungie to a Humpday Challenge, and I'm coordinating the Halopedia Team. Peeps need to know when the tryouts are (there will be several), and I can't keep on messaging all of 'em! It's driving me crazy! Can you unprotect it for several days until the challenge is finished? If not, can I just give you what I'd like to be updated? Thanks, Ed. Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 23:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it can be unprotected...Its just one of those functions that is only avaliable for people with sysop powers. But if you want me to put something on it, I will. -ED 23:51, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Bungie has challenged Halopedia to a HUMPDAY CHALLENGE on Wednesday night, February the 7th. If you are interested in being on Team Halopedia, please visit the team's page, consider joining the tryouts, and message RelentlessRecusant, the coordinator, about your interest. The next tryout will be at 2:00 pm Eastern Time on Saturday the 3rd.

Could ya put that on?

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 00:30, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

yahoo! that's what I'M talking 'bout! =D also, could you remove the dash? it's unnecessary to the coding. Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 00:40, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm sincerely regretful to contact you repeatedly after all that you've done for me...but on the MediaWiki thingy, could ya change the team's page thingy to:
team's page
Thanks! Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 00:43, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

humpday

umm...could ya put a temporary template on the front page before the DYK and FA templates for the humpday challenge? I just would like it to balance the front page aesthetically.

sorry if I'm asking too much! =S
