I changed the repeating ''slip space'' back to ''slipspace'', because that's what it is. Its not two words. ==Why so small?==
Is it just me or is the UNSC home fleet disturbingly much smaller than you would expect? Reach could have up to 300 ships guarding it at once. I know Earth had 300 Mac guns (which seems like a colossal undertaking, yet they all just appeared over Earth right in time for the invasion. How coincidental?), but even with the might of the Macs, they couldn't defend themselves against 15 ships. Macs have only enough propulsion/thrust for slight movements for aiming, they can't chase after enemy fleets (but how idiotic was it for them to not pull a Berlin 1942, and turn their stationary guns into tanks/ships?). 75 ships alone is a mediocre defense for your home planet. 300 mysterious Mac guns fell way to easily. It only took one hole, and that one hole only took a few boarding ships to break through.
There must have been some planet somewhere, where they manufactured all of this in secret. Reach was obviously their biggest building ground, but it's also their most known. Like the Oort cloud surrounding the Sol system where the Infinity was made, there's got to be some secret place where the UNSC built all their stuff. At least we now know why they didn't even have a flag ship defending Earth, and still, I think Earth was horribly under defended.
Anyone disagree?
