Marathon 2 XBLA Survival Inspiration[edit]

As of writing, the page had this trivia point:

The map's layout is identical to that of one of the four Survival maps<!-- Which map?--> from the Xbox LIVE Arcade port of Marathon 2: Durandal.

This unsourced trivia point goes back to the first iteration of this article, with the only edit clarifying that the original Macintosh release of Marathon 2 did not have the Survival game mode, and adding a hidden HTML comment asking "Which map?" which has been left visible here. Otherwise, this has remained untouched for over a decade.

I'm removing this claim from the actual article for being unverifiable. To the point, these maps are decidedly not "identical" in any reasonable sense. However, very loose connections can be found by looking at the maps with this thought in mind, though nothing as close as this trivia point may lead you to think. The two closest maps are Road Warrior (a map very similar to Halo 2's Foundation, which was notably based on the original Marathon 2 network map Thunderdome), and Full Roaming Vapor. It may be possible that one of these Survival maps was an inspiration for Last Exit, but loose connections like these are largely subjective and not very notable without a source. In case anything pops up this is being left here for future reference. --TNS22 (talk) 13:50, February 8, 2024 (EST)
