Ray was a UNSC Navy officer serving on the bridge of an unknown ship that was destroyed by a Covenant plasma torpedo. He and the other bridge members transmitted their goodbyes during the sixty seconds it took for the torpedo to burn through the hull plating after it impacted. He died along with the entire 130-person crew of the ship. He left behind his wife and his then-unborn son, the latter of which was eight months in development.[1]
