The Covenant Special Operations is a subgroup of the Covenant Special Warfare Group and the specialized operations branch of the Covenant Army.[1]
Overview
The Covenant Special Operations of the Special Warfare Group was established by the Covenant Army for the execution of specialized operations. Personnels within this group are regarded as skilled warriors of the Covenant Empire, sent in to accomplish the most covert and dangerous operations.[2][3]
The Special Operations objectives cover sabotaging of enemy installations and supply lines, assassinations and retrieval of holy artifacts, although it was an extremely versatile group of performing low-risk sentry or defense operations.[4]
Organisation
A Special Operations lance normally consist of two Special Operations Sangheili — led by an Special Operations Officer — and two Special Operations Unggoy. While there are a number of different castes and ranks of Covenant Special Operations personnel, only the Sangheili and Unggoy races of Covenant Empire are elected for Special Operations duty:

However, even though Special Operations Sangheili are included in the Special Operations group, the closely related Stealth Sangheili, who also possess the equipment to facilitate active camouflage, though weaker, aren't related to the Covenant Special Operations division.
