The Brute Bodyguard is a Brute (Jiralhanae) rank/specialty [1]. They are responsible for the protection of their tribe's Chieftain, they are also responsible for the enforcement of tribal law. You don't face them in halo 3, but you see bodyguards protecting the prophet of truth during the cuts scene after the battle with the two scarabs.
