Advantages[edit]

Unknown. However, there must be certain crippling disadvantages, or its user would be unstoppable in combat. Some have speculated that it will slow down its user considerably; others claim that it could only be used for a limited time before 'dying'. Chaingun is the M41 LAAG![edit]
Frank O'Connor went on record as saying that the M41 LAAG could not be removed from the back of a Hog. However, this was repeatedly analyzed by fans who concluded that this did not actually confirm that the chaingun was not the M41 LAAG, despite evidence to the contrary. Until more can be discovered about it, the chaingun's true identity will remain an enigma.-- Azathoth 02:03, 20 April 2007
- This seems to preclude its being the M41, but bear in mind that the Weekly Updates are often designed to conceal the truth. Merely because it has been confirmed that you cannot pull the chaingun off the back of a Hog does not mean that the "chain-gun" is not, in fact, the M41. It might work in the same manner as the Sentinel Beam, which can only be taken from the wreckage of Sentinels: only once the Warthog is destroyed can the gun be salvaged. That would make the Warthog still important even after being destroyed, as then any surviving crew would at the very least give the enemy hell until the battery is depleted. -- R1e2u3b4e5n6 09:05, 24 April 2007
- There are better pictures of the chaingun available now, from unofficial and (finally!!!) official sources. Look closely - it bears only a vague resemblance to the M41 LAAG. it's a weapon in its own right. I didnt get into friends and family, so i havent seen it in action yet, but i did a bit of researching on YouTube - it apparently has a 200 round limit, shoots slow but then speeds up, and switches you into a third-person view when you hold it.
