If the elites glassed "half" the continent (probably a hyperbole on the part of hood), then how are the humans and arbiter able to erect a monument and hold the 21 gun salute near the portal to the ark? Shouldn't the ground be covered in glass-like material or at least baren and dead, both of which it is clearly not?Person122 23:06, May 27, 2010 (UTC) | If the elites glassed "half" the continent (probably a hyperbole on the part of hood), then how are the humans and arbiter able to erect a monument and hold the 21 gun salute near the portal to the ark? This really needs to be pared down to just the Halo-relevant stuff. Also maybe something about the unexplained Earth tradition of naming military hardware after African animals. --68.44.13.236 17:34, 3 September 2007 (UTC) | This really needs to be pared down to just the Halo-relevant stuff. Don't forget the other stuff, like the sparrowhalk, cobra, cougar, albatross, and wolverine. Is this going by traditional continents or todays? I mean today there are 6 continents, but "traditionaly" there are 7. Asia of the traditional, has since joined with Europe to form the super continent "Eurasia" (it's cos they're mostly on the same plate).Forerunner 22:14, 28 March 2008 (UTC) | Is this going by traditional continents or todays? :I think what Forerunner meant by "traditional" is what they taught us in school. So unless you've been living under a rock all these year, you've probably heard the notion that there are seven contients. (ZOMG seven reference). The way they are divided now seems more political than anything.Person122 23:09, May 27, 2010 (UTC) | :I think what Forerunner meant by "traditional" is what they taught us in school. We know Marontik was "not far" from the Portal. Can we really say this leaves room for the Portal to be in Africa and for Marontik not to be? That doesn't make much sense, does it? -Japeth555 | We know Marontik was "not far" from the Portal. Can we really say this leaves room for the Portal to be in Africa and for Marontik not to be? :I'm aware of that, but "not far" can be relative. My main reasons for wanting to keep Marontik's location vague are the references to "two great rivers" (which suggest an ancient Mesopotamian location) and the presence of Gigantopitechus (fossils of which have been found in South and Southeast Asia) in the immediate vicinity. This, to me, leaves so much room for ambiguity we shouldn't give the city any specific location until 343i does. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 00:27, 4 May 2016 (EDT) | :I'm aware of that, but "not far" can be relative.
