D77-TAL[edit]

So am I right in my logic here that the:

  • Reach Pelican is now retconned the D77-TAL.
  • H2A Pelican is the D77-TC.

I mean that would explain the differences between the pelican models?-CIA391 (talk) 11:43, 22 September 2018 (EDT)

That's my read of it too. Makes sense and a welcome chage, given that the differences between the two are much more than just minor aesthetic qualms.BaconShelf (talk) 11:53, 22 September 2018 (EDT)
What makes the D77-TAL any different to the baseline D77-TC? From the specifications seen here, it uses all the same components of a regular pelican and the Army already has a history of reclassifying equipment (the MA5/MA37 springs to mind), so perhaps it is just the original dropship just reclassified to the Army definition? The cockpit designs between the two are the primary massive difference. The Halo 2 variant has a side-by-side pilot seating configuration while the Reach version resembles the Halo 3 variant in which one pilot is sat above and behind another, like you'd see in an attack helicopter. Additionally, the Reach one seems to posess no door separating the cockpit and troop bay, whereas the Halo 2 one does have some sort of dividing wall/ door. These are all all pretty major changes you can't really just chalk up to visual reinterpretations/ upgraded graphics. The opening cutscenes of Outskirts and The Pillar of Autumn both give you a good look at both cockpit configs. BaconShelf (talk) 06:17, 23 September 2018 (EDT)
