Regarding the Art of Halo 3 edits

First of all I have seen an Abrams, second of all it says it plain and simple and I quote "The Pelican is huge, but it seems that very few people fully grasp its hugeness. This is at least partially due to the in-game view and the relatively small number of people that were ever shown riding in it. But truth be told, you can fit an Abrams M1A1 MBT in the troop bay."

it looks a lot wider then what we see in any of the three Halo games. I do not believe this is something that would be exaggerated. What is said on Page 38 also had to be checked by Robert McLees who is the current holder of the HALO STORY BIBLE, the definitive source of every aspect of the Halo mythology, And he was involved with the book as he is listed in the credits. No, I was not saying the troop bay of the Pelican is 76 feet in width. What I unfortunately left out is that it is possible for an Abrams to fit inside a pelican if the troop bay has a width of around 14ft. However since there are no solid numbers on the dimensions of the troop bay this is only speculation, though you do bring up a good points about the aft section of the Pelican and the Scorpion M808B MBT. To help provide further clarification into this, I've contacted Stephen Loftus. He has done extensive work on the dimensions of all of the vehicles in the Halo Universe, and I'm interested to hear what he says, I've also asked him if he could provide dimensions of the troop bay for both clarification, and for addition to the Pelican article.
