My theory on this is that it s not a glitch, but more of an Easter Egg. You see, when you melee the Elite in the back, you might not be killing him, but paralysing him. I got the idea because enemies which don't have a spine (Hunters or Sentienels) don't die from back melees. So, since the Elite is still alive, his shields still work. My theory on this is that it s not a glitch, but more of an Easter Egg. You see, when you melee the Elite in the back, you might not be killing him, but paralysing him.
