Bracktanus is a Jiralhanae (Brute) warrior mentioned by a pair of Unggoy during the Reach campaign. He fought and killed a Sangheili warrior within close proximity to a holy area, a crime normally punishable by painful execution. Bracktanus not only escaped execution, but the matter was swiftly forgotten by the San 'Shyuum, showing favoritism on the part of the Jiralhanae, a deadly choice. Bracktanus was also seen in the book "In Death's Grey Land" , by J.D. Ford. He was an Osoona in the Elite Commander Arco 'Karnamee's mission to retreive the Wellspring. During the mission He ambushed the Elite Commander's squad with his own larger, better armed squad of brutes. Their confrontation was interrupted by the arrival of the Sentinels and the moniter Abject Cipher. In the central platform of the facility he had to face both elite forces and a human ODST squad, including a Spartan-1, Leonidas, And a Spartan-II, Maria or 063. In the middle of the battle an infected Forerunner, or Flood Juggernaut, escaped form its containment cell after spending 100,932 years in it. Its first victim was Bracktanus, as it pulled him with one tentacle, then proceeded to infest him. That is how his end came about.
