:If I may offer my opinion, I think that it's more simple than that. Granted, I've only seen walkthroughs, but Cortana only became like that after uploading herself into the Domain, right? What do we know of the Domain? It's a ''Precursor construct''. I think the Domain might have corrupted Cortana the same way the Gravemind corrupted the Didact and turned her just as megalomaniacal as those two. All to further the Precursor's / Gravemind's plan to make all life suffer. Either that, or a combination of the Gravemind's torture and the Domain's influence. What do you think of this hypothesis?
