:The credit card number is almost like a password. That's why they'll ask for it when you want to do other things. The credit card number will stay linked to that particular account, so if you intend on doing certain things, they need you to identify (so to speak). Otherwise anyone could access things by juts handing over your gamertag. I have an account on the website; when I try to connect from my original Xbox (I don't have 360) it asks for gamertag (no prob) and credit card number (AUGH!).
