Halo 4 and Halo 2 Anniversary's multiplayer both share the same engine for the most part (H2A likely having some form of minor updates here and there compared to H4). Because of this factor, and the two games already sharing many of the same assets and 95% the same art style; I cannot help but wonder if Halo MCC should receive an update to allow H4 and H2A to share even more files in order to enhance the gameplay offered for both multiplayer types?

What I am trying to get at is... what if Halo 4 had been given an update so that players can make use of Halo 2 Anniversary's map roster for matches and customize your Spartans in the H2A cosmetic options? Meanwhile Halo 2 Anniversary gets a HUGE update in which players can have access to 40+ new customization options and the ability to play Halo 2 Anniversary on Halo 4's map selection?

Halo 2 Anniversary would receive -

  • 25 new multiplayer map options
  • 4 Forge World Map options
  • 45 new MJOLNIR Armor Sets to customize their Spartans with (This number includes the Mark VI MOD from the campaign and the cut-but-still-in-game-files Hayabusa Gen-2, which could be simply renamed to "Ninja" or "Hanzo" in order to get around the crossover copyright laws with Ninja Gaiden)
  • 5 new Elite Armor Sets to customize with (Storm, Ranger, Commander, Warrior, and Zealot)

Halo 4 would receive -

  • 7 new multiplayer map options
  • 3 Forge World Map options
  • Mark VI Anniversary armor set (Titled as "Mark VI Alpha")
  • Centurion Armor Set
  • Hoplite Armor Set
  • Orion Armor Set
  • Biroid Armor Set Contents
  • Megaframe Armor Set Contents
  • Sierra Trooper Armor Set Contents
  • Panzerdoll Armor Set Contents

Such an update should be practically effortless to implement. The more tedious part would be updating the H2A cosmetics to have a paint texture that is more realistic and less cartoony when placed into Halo 4, meanwhile the Halo 4 Spartan and Elite armor options would have to be given a more cartoonish paintjob texturing to better fit into Halo 2 Anniversary's style of rendering.

Actually it would be pretty ironic, considering that Certain Affinity was tasked with making DLC for Halo 4 and had to scrap two years of post-launch map packs. Halo 4 was supposed to receive a DLC pack that was going to contain a remake of Zanzibar/Last Resort but that pack was scrapped. And Halo 2 Anniversary instead received what eventually became "Stonetown". So if 343 were to apply such an update to MCC, that would allow Halo 4 players to actually receive their Zanzibar/Last Resort map a little over a decade late.

But just imagine it. Playing H2A BTB Team Slayer on Halo 4's Raknarok or Longbow. Meanwhile you could play Halo 4's rendition of KotH on H2A's Shrine or Warlord.

What do you guys think?
