Fanon Into Canon?[edit]

The description of this operation is actually very close to the content of a fan fiction on Halo.Bungie.Org, written by J.D. Ford. Like, eerily close. Is it possible that Bungie adopted aspects of it into canon? We've been dwelling on that for a while in the Fanfiction Forums.
