The true canon would be somewhere in-between Normal and Heroic. I'd say either one can be canon.

The Heroic Mode in Halo 2 isn't all that enjoyable, I agree. In Halo 1 and 3, however, it can be enormously fun. (Blue Ninja - I'm just too lazy to log in)
