Differences with the Splinter grenade
Due to the difference in name, appearance, and functionality, I have concluded that the Splinter grenade IS actually a separate weapon entirely. Check out the Splinter grenade page and the trivia section of the Pulse grenade for more details. --Crisperstorm (talk) 17:31, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
EMP Effects
This article claims that Pulse Grenades disables vehicles, however, I have tested this and found it to be untrue. It might be worth looking into by other contributors.

:You forgot to sign your name. Perhaps just add a gameplay section that says it doesn't do that. Canonically it would not gameplay wise, wouldn't. Erickyboo (talk) 17:18, 12 May 2013 (EDT)
::Err I'm not sure if it quite works that way since the source for the fact is a Bulletin mostly describing the gameplay. I always end up forgetting if little things about these weapons or abilities were removed before the game's release or after during a title update.<span style="color:green">Sith-venator Wavingstrider</span> (<span style="color:blue">Commlink</span>) 23:56, 12 May 2013 (EDT)
:::I'm with venator. Made the edit. Always use the DMR. This is <span style="color:orange; font-family: Gill Sans Ultra Bold; font-size: 105%;">craZboy557</span>, signing off. 07:28, 13 May 2013 (EDT)
::::It says "
A field-effect-generating attenuation device used to overload both simple and complex power networks, forcing them temporarily offline. " in the bulletin's description. Basically, EMP but cut from the game but canonical! Erickyboo (talk) 18:00, 13 May 2013 (EDT)
:Would have been useful with vehicle EMP... D: --Crisperstorm (talk) 23:10, 26 September 2015 (EDT)
Splinter Grenade?
Been noticing Ready Up Live and various people on the Waypoint Forums saying the grenade is now called the "Splinter Grenade" in Halo 5, but I can't find any official source or video where it specifically calls it that. I assume people are just confusing it with the new Splinter Turret?--Crisperstorm (talk) 23:10, 26 September 2015 (EDT)
:I haven't seen or heard anything official but the "splinter grenade" name has popped up a few times on the Archive and Waypoint. Gameplay-wise it has nothing in common with the Halo 4 version apart from its appearance and disintegration properties, though we know from Halo 4s ending that the Z-040 has multiple detonation modes. I'll see if I can dig anything up. --<span style="color:gray">Our answer is at hand.</span> (<span style="color:gray">Talk to me.</span>) 23:15, 26 September 2015 (EDT)

::The different detonation modes would make sense but I have to say my biggest irk with the Halo 5 forerunner weapons is the big changes in firing mechanics but they all look exactly the same. x_x --Crisperstorm (talk) 23:29, 26 September 2015 (EDT)

::: I think that's a testament to forerunner adaptability and changability of weaponry, but I hope we know if it's the same Z-040 except simply splinter grenade functionality in halo 5. Erickyboo (talk) 23:41, 26 September 2015 (EDT)
::::Apparently Greenskull tweeted that it was the splinter grenade now. How reliable is he? https://twitter.com/Greenskull/status/647562462422781952?s=09  --Crisperstorm (talk) 23:49, 26 September 2015 (EDT)

The flavor text for the Boltshot REQ card says the Prometheans have modified their weapons since the events of Halo 4. This seems to be the case with the pulse/splinter grenade. --<span style="color:gray">Our answer is at hand.</span> (<span style="color:gray">Talk to me.</span>) 15:45, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
::"Alright guys, new idea, let's make some of our weapons weaker when we fight the humans!"-Promethean Weapons Expert --Crisperstorm (talk) 17:31, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
:::Splinter grenade seems a lot more useful. Also Splinter turret is cool and the Suppressor/Boltshot can track targets now. Snark without a bark (talk) 17:58, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
::::I like the new balanced designs, but they are less powerful then in Halo 4, such as the boltshot lost its shotgun ability, incineration cannon lost its multiple explosion splash effect. But they do have a lot of improvements, was just joking around about the changes in some weapons :P --Crisperstorm (talk) 18:50, 27 September 2015 (EDT)
