The corvette at Sword Base was orbitally bombed. Orbital Super MAC's are powerful enough to penetrate any ship's shield, regardless of class. Smaller ship MACs take several shots, but Super MACs are nearly six times their size. (What I wonder, though, is why the projectile seemed be moving slower than the projected speed of 50% lightspeed, and why the round didn't go on to strike the ground and create a dust cloud apocolypse. Heck, there wasn't even a single sign of ground impact at all!)<span style="color:#6600cc;">Tuckerscreator</span>(<font color="#008000">stalk</font>) 05:24, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

::They might've been using the gun on a lower power setting than normal to avoid a massive ground impact. In fact, I think they did just that. Just like the Grafton when it destroyed the spire. In addition, the round passing through the corvette would slow it down considerably, especially if its shields were online. --<font color="MidnightBlue">Jugus</font> <small>(<font color="Gray">Talk</font> | <font color="Gray">Contribs</font>)</small> 05:50, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Hm, maybe. but wouldn't that compromise the round's impact power? Then again, maybe Super MACs just use bigger rounds...<span style="color:#6600cc;">Tuckerscreator</span>(<font color="#008000">stalk</font>) 16:05, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Halo 4 appearance?
In the list of appearances section, it says that the SDV-class corvette appears in Halo 4, after beating the campaign and the current Spartan ops missions, I have not seen one of these ships, nor does this article have pictures or info on its role in the game, so if I failed to notice them somewhere in the game, can someone tell me where they appear, if at all, please and thank you.-SuavestImp508 11:03, January 12, 2013

I saw them in the latest trailer and I believe Sith concurred correct? Anyway, from what I saw they were participating in the assault on Kamchatka. Mind to explain your point of view Topal? Snark without a bark (talk) 20:50, 1 September 2015 (EDT)

:I saw some of those unidentified ones, which look similar to the corvettes, but I didn't see any SDVs. :: Working on it. Looked like it was really quick view, but I swore I saw at least one. The video was pretty fast paced for getting an image. Snark without a bark (talk) 21:39, 1 September 2015 (EDT)

::: Well I watched IGN's Rewind Theater because they usually are good at slowing down videos and I see several contenders but nothing to say that the SDV is in Halo 5 just yet. From a quick glance I'd say, "yeah that's a corvette" but after pausing it seems that they are either new or something else. Snark without a bark (talk) 21:56, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
::::Well, those new unidentified ships are most likely a new class of corvette. They are the right size and look quite similar to the SDVs. If any of you are referring to the ship in this screenshot, it does vaguely remind me of the SDV class, but something about the silhouette seems wrong. It may be the distance throwing off perspective, or it may be a similar but different ship class entirely. -- <font color=indigo>Qura 'Morhek</font> <u><font color=blue>The Autocrat</font></u> <u><font color=purple>of Morheka</font></u> 06:32, 2 September 2015 (EDT)
:It could be an SDV-class but it may very well not be. It's not really surprising though, given that the Covenant have had ships that look similar, but are completely different classes.-- 13:04, 2 September 2015 (EDT)
::Nah man the ship in that image is for sure a Spirit.<span style="color:green">Sith Venator</span> (<span style="color:blue">Dank Memes</span>) 13:06, 2 September 2015 (EDT)
:::Oh, I wasn't talking about the image (which I can tell is a Spirit). The part where Osiris is free-falling, there are ships that look kind of like SDVs.-- 13:11, 2 September 2015 (EDT)
::::That doesn't look like an SDV in that shot there. I can't make out the "rim" of the ship there that should be on the underside of it. And yeah, that earlier image is a Spirit dropship, no disputing that one at least.262VigilantGuardian (talk) 13:35, 2 September 2015 (EDT)
Neither of them look like SDV's to me. I worry this might be another "The Ascendant Justice is in Halo Anniversary" situation where we're leaping to conclusions too early based on an unclear image. == Shields ==
The SDV-class has shields.  Aside from the defensive arrays in Fleet Battles, the Mayhem, is clearly stated as having shields in Hunters in the Dark.  The page should be updated to reflect this Councilor &#39;Rumilee (talk) 15:06, 19 February 2016 (EST)

:Okie here is a few things for ye. Glenn Isreal did the art for it for one. That is stated in both sources I am using. Also note I removed the obvious stuff like it was used in said mission as it only appeared in 1 mission lol. *Halo Reach Prima Guide Collectors edition Pages 441 "Ardent Prayer - Reach may be dramatically different from its predecessors in a numbercof ways, but for inspiration into the Covenant visual design elements, Bungie's artists referenced existing materiel."
*Art of building worlds page 072: "Corvettes are more diminutive members of the Covenant Fleet, though they play a pivotal role in the fall of Reacg."
*AoBw page 073: "For Reach's corvette artist Glenn Isreal created something new yet familiar using motives from the Covenant Cruiser. The hatches and corridors are familiar from Halo CE's Truth and Reconciliation, but the lines have been tidied and the vision more clarity. With the added processing power of the 360, the level of detail attainable in the final gand jumpes significantly"
