Escape pods are employed aboard a number of UNSC Navy vessels.[1][2]
Operational historyEdit
Several escape pods were carried by the Phoenix-class colony ship UNSC Spirit of Fire by the time of the ship's disappearance 2531. During the Second Ark Conflict in 2559, the carrier used these escape pods to deploy ODSTs[2] and Hellbringers[3] onto the megastructure in addition to more conventional SOEIVs, possibly due to depleted SOEIV stocks. Sunray 1-1 used the escape pods to deploy onto the installation for Operation: SPEARBREAKER.[4]
By the time of the Battle of Installation 00 in 2552, the Charon-class light frigate UNSC Forward Unto Dawn employed several of these escape pods. Following the ship's arrival at Requiem in 2557, John-117 and Cortana attempted to use the escape pods to escape the wreckage of the Dawn, but the compartment was destroyed and the two pulled into space before they could be used.[1]
