The X23 NNEMP Cannon consumes much of the Gremlin's dorsal surface and is much bulkier than the far smaller and more portable W/AV G/GNR.
The X23 NNEMP Cannon is a weapon in service with the UNSC Marine Corps. It was designed by the Materials Group of the Office of Naval Intelligence to knock down Covenant power generators and other important relaying stations during protracted battles. After it was found vehicles were sensitive to this particular EMP, the Gremlin was made to support this weapon.[1][2] Its special EMP ability is entirely ineffective against infantry.
