Cairo Station is an Orbital Super MAC Cannon. Located above the city Cairo on Earth, it is one of humanity's last defences against the Covenant. It is one of some 300 Orbital Super MAC Cannons surrounding earth. It is part of a cluster that includes the Stations Malta and Athens. It is commanded by Lord Hood.
It comes under attack on October 2552, and, despite the destruction of both the Malta and Athens, is still alive and functional. However, it is heavily damaged from the botched Covenant assault, as seen in the final cutscene of The Great Journey, when Master Chief returns to Earth aboard the Forerunner Ship.
