Operation

An operation is a planned military offensive conducted by a military force, generally against a specific enemy objective or group of objectives. Operations can be large scale military campaigns, battles or small, covert insertions. Operations receive unique code words to distinguish themselves from other actions without giving away sensitive information that could be intercepted by enemy forces.

Known UNSC Operations

• Operation: ATHENA (2558) - Operation launched to discover the location of the Absolute Record.

• Operation: BLIND FAITH (2552) - A combined UNSC and Sangheili battlegroup follow the Prophet of Truth to Installation 00, locating and assassinating the leader of the Covenant.

• Operation: BLOWBACK (2552) - The UNSC covert operation to gather intelligence and destroy Covenant ships in Sub-sector 35.

• Operation: BRAVADO (2552) - an operation of involving Vice Admiral Michael Stanforth.

• Operation: BREADCRUMB - A mission in which Captain James Cutter was involved at some point.

• Operation: CARTWHEEL (2540's) - A SPARTAN-III Beta Company mission.

• Operation: CHARLEMAGNE (2496) - The deployment of a company of SPARTAN-I operatives against Insurrectionists over Eridanus II.

• Operation: CLEAN SWEEP - An operation during the Insurrection.

• Operation: DAYBREAK - Highly classified military exercises conducted by the UNSC Navy on Oban.

• Operation: FIRESIDE (2552) - An ODST mission on Ariel.

• Operation: FIRST STRIKE (2552) - A small SPARTAN-II offensive against the Covenant battle station Unyielding Hierophant.

• Operation: GUARDIAN LANCE (2540) - The recovery of Covenant technology by the UNSC on Jericho VII.

• Operation: HEMORRHAGE (Prior to August 2552) - Operation involving Kelly-087.

• Operation: HORN AND HIDE (Prior to August 2552) - Successful assassination of a San'Shyuum missionary on Odenli'sh by Linda-058.

• Operation: HYPODERMIC (dates unknown) - A mysterious and secret ONI project that has been in progress since 2531.

• Operation: KALEIDOSCOPE (2502) - The assassination of rebel political leader, Jerald Mulkey Ander, on Harvest.

• Operation: LEFT JAB (2552) - UNSC Naval operation in support of Operation: UPPER CUT during the fall of Reach.

• Operation: PALE SHADOW (Prior to 2537) - UNSC operation on Eirene involving Kelly-087.

• Operation: PROMETHEUS (2537) - The attack on the Covenant shipyard K7-49 by SPARTAN-III Alpha Company.

• Operation: RED FLAG (2552) - A planned operation to capture a Prophet.

• Operation: TANGLEWOOD - A mission in which Avery Junior Johnson took part as a private.

• Operation: TORPEDO (2545) - The attack on Covenant refinery planet Pegasi Delta by SPARTAN-III Beta Company.

• Operation: TREBUCHET (2513) - A lengthy UNSC conflict against Insurrectionists.
