One must wonder if Jake Courage ever existed, and if he had, were his images altered by Section II of [[ONI]], as the [[Unidentified ONI photographer|the photographer]]'s were. It would seem odd that Section 02 would allow more brutal and telling pictures of the war to surface, as they were considerably more vehement to heavily edit such imagery. In addition, it seems unlikely that John-117 - a Spartan - would have befriended a civilian, as the Spartans had very little contact with those outside their own ranks. | |||
It is speculated that Jake Courage is a participant of ONI's intentional distortion of what actually happened, as the [[Second Battle of New Mombasa]] never took place in the canon Halo universe, in order to prevent knowledge of the [[Forerunner]]s, the [[Installation|Halos]], and the [[Ark]] from being gained by civilians.
