"The Covenant have harnessed the waters of this moon to refuel their massive supercarriers."
— Map description

Penance is a multiplayer map included in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for Halo Reach.[1] It is a remake of Damnation from Halo: Combat Evolved with several alterations to map layout.[1] A Forge variant with similar title to the Halo Combat Evolved version is also available for those who prefer the classic multiplayer map.

Setting

Penance is set in a massive Covenant hydro-processing center on Buwan, the primary satellite of the Unggoy homeworld Balaho. The moon provides the perfect environment for the facility, which is used to power and refuel a variety of capital ships. Though still operational via automated subsystems, the station was abandoned shortly after the breaking of the Covenant.[2]
