On the battlefield, Marines and even Spartans need to have Health Packs, or MedKits, available. Each MedKit contains small stores of Biofoam (see below), a stitch kit, Polypseudomorphine, self-adhering antiseptic battle dressings, and other useful field dressing components. These are the main sources of first-aid in the field when a physician or medic is not available.

Health Packs are standard aboard many UNSC ships. Health packs are often seen on corridor walls at regular intervals. There are also two health packs located in a Pelican. Both of them are on each side of the door to the cockpit. They seem to be more rectangular in shape and are inaccessible to the player.

The Health Packs are only present in Halo: Combat Evolved. In Halo 2 and Halo 3, health regenerates with an integrated Biofoam dispenser. In Halo CE, the Health Pack will fill the players health, but it will have no effect on their shields. There is also an unexplainable glitch that exists. If a player is standing on a health pack, and hit by a tank shell, they will survive. A tank shell has enough power to kill a fully shielded player two times over, so the numbers don't add up.
