Brian Reed is the Halo franchise lead writer at 343 Industries.[1] Previously employed by Marvel Comics, his first Halo work was Halo: Fall of Reach, a comic book adaptation of the Eric Nylund novel The Fall of Reach. He served as a writer for Halo 4 and was the lead writer of Spartan Ops.[2] Reed later wrote the comic miniseries Halo: Initiation[3] and subsequently issues 7 through 10 of Halo: Escalation.[4][5] Reed is currently the lead writer for Halo 5: Guardians.[6]

He needs to stop writing for Halo entirely. The evidence of this being the trope-filled, convoluted mess which is Halo 5: Guardians' story. A story which failed to produce any meaningful conflict between Master Chief and Jameson Locke (which was the entire basis of the marketing campaign), a completely redundant and dull antagonist in the form of the Warden Eternal, a lack of character development for Osiris bar a few 'Buck buys the drinks' quips, and a woefully cliche 'created vs creators' plot 'twist', which appeared from literally nowhere and makes Cortana's sacrifice in Halo 4 meaningless.

Halo 5: Guardians is otherwise a pretty enjoyable game and a solid Halo title; however Brian Reed's amateur writing spoils the otherwise fun gameplay and beautiful environments of the campaign. Replace Reed with Christopher Schlerf, for the franchise's sake.
