Jay Weinland was a senior Bungie employee and currently the head of the audio department. He studied at Oberlin College and Conservatory for five years and then went on to teach as a high school orchestra teacher for another five years. He has been in the video game industry since at least 1996. He is a major aficionado of science fiction novels, sports, brass instruments, and beer...with beef jerky.

He is married to Seattle actress Heather Hawkins, and has two children.

He has worked as the audio lead in all Bungie Halo games.[1][2][3][4][5], and was largely responsible for sound effect production and design along with C. Paul. He also provided his voice for Pascal, one of the officers onboard the UNSC In Amber Clad in Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary.

Jay continued under Bungie to develop audio for Destiny and Destiny 2, before working as audio lead on EA Industral Toys' Battlefield Mobile from 2020 until that project's cancellation in January 2023. He currently works as audio director at Sound Lab, a contractor/support studio for audio production.
