UNSC Armstrong

Template:Individual Ship Infobox The UNSC Armstrong was a warship in service with the UNSC Navy during the Human-Covenant War.

Operational history

In 2531 the UNSC Armstrong (Light Frigate), along with the UNSC Pillar of Autumn, UNSC Texas, and the UNSC Belfast, engaged two Covenant Battlecruisers, designated CCS-U321 and CCS-U624 above the Earth Colony Arcadia, and were able to catch CCS-U321’s shields down and quickly destroy it. Immediately after, CCS-U624 engaged them, and destroyed the Texas and Belfast, severely damaging the Armstrong and the Autumn. After the battle, while the Armstrong was towed back the Reach to receive repairs, the UNSC High Command had decided to create a new class of ships. However, they didn’t have enough resources to construct one from scratch, so they used the Armstrong. After 10 years of refitting the UNSC Armstrong (Heavy Battleship) was ready for active service and was made the flagship for Battle Group Echo, otherwise known as the “Rapid Response Battle Group”, in where these specially designed ships, which have advanced slipspace drives, have the ability to respond quickly to an attack on a colony and engage the enemy as soon as they exit slipspace. After approximately 8-9 years of service, and destroying 100 Covenant vessels, the Covenant designed and constructed the one and only Ultracarrier in response to the UNSC Armstrong. Then, on May 5, 2549 the Covenant Ultracarrier joined an attack fleet en route to Arcadia. After about 30 minutes of the Covenant stacking the planet Battle Group Echo entered the system and engaged the Covenant. After an hour of fighting, the Covenant unveiled their Ultracarrier and it used its advanced cleansing beam against the UNSC Armstrong and caught its shields down, and after a well fought battle the UNSC Armstrong was destroyed along with 78% of the Battle Groups, and FLEETCOM (UNSC Fleet Command) ordered the Battle Group to withdrawal from the battle and the colony was lost.

Trivia

The ship is likely named after Neil Armstrong, famous astronaut and first man on the moon.
