Staff sergeant

Template:Ratings Template:Rank Infobox Staff Sergeant is the sixth enlisted rank of the UNSC Marine Corps, the seventh enlisted rank in the UNSC Army, and the fifth enlisted rank in the UNSC Air Force. It is a non-commissioned officer rank. It is equal to the ranks of Petty Officer 1st Class Chief Petty Officer, Petty Officer Second Class in the UNSC Navy, respectively.. The rank is symbolized by four gold chevrons.[1]
They typically command squads of 9 - 11 Marines or Soldiers, although they may be selected to become "Platoon Sergeants", which aid Second Lieutenants. Avery Johnson and Nolan Byrne were platoon leaders on Harvest, and were told to train a Colonial Militia.
