PREFECT-class Mjolnir is a variant of the MJOLNIR [GEN2] manufactured by the Watershed Division. It is reverse-engineered from the personal armor worn by Forerunner Prefects.[1]

Overview[edit]

Development history[edit]

Research on the Forerunner shield world now called Trevelyan has cultivated numerous findings for the Office of Naval Intelligence. One of the most practical has been the discovery of a native armor system utilized by Forerunner Prefects late in their civilization's history. The Watershed Division leveraged local Huragok to reverse-engineer the original designs, grafting the abandoned armor system into baseline Mjolnir standards for Spartan-IV use.[1] It was tested at Denegroth, West Conamara, on Europa.[2]

In-game information[edit]

Halo 4[edit]

Prefect is one of the three armors from the Infinity Armor Pack. Like the other two armor sets, it is not usable in Spartan Ops in Halo 4. Although the Prefect was unavailable during initial release in The Master Chief Collection, it was made available in Series 7: Elite.

Production notes[edit]

"Initially when I started out on this, I did experiment a bit with fusing the typical Halo 4 'armor noise' into a 'loose' interpretation of Issac's design then swung into a more direct interpretation with simpler shapes. Alot of the simple designs had some very nice chunky, unique silhouette breaking shapes, which I thought would have been a nice break from the typical collection of Halo armors, but eventually alot of the pieces were broken up and shrunk down to fit more snugly against the frame and avoid any unwanted collision..."
— Sean Bigham, describing the design process for Prefect.[3]

The Prefect variant was based on Halo: Chronicles concept art for a "Promethean" (unrelated to the Prometheans now-known in canon) by Isaac Hannaford.[3]
