Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

Challenger armor is built on a PROTECTOR frame subjected to hundreds of additional tests and quality assurance checks. This variant also has high-performance thrusters and shield emitter arrays.[1]

Development History[edit]

This variant has hundreds of additional tests and quality assurance checks are to minimize performance quirks that negatively impact War Games performance. The high-performance thrusters and shield emitter arrays require constant stress monitoring and adjustment to avoid critical failure during a match, much to the dismay of Infinity’s support teams.[1]

In-game information[edit]

Halo 5: Guardians[edit]

The Challenger armor set was created primarily for the Halo World Championship eSports tournament. In March 2016, the suit was available for free for a limited time on March 20–21 by watching the tournament's finale on Twitch and getting the limited-time Halo World Championship REQ Pack.[2] The suit is not a fully-original design, and employs several Halo 4 armor pieces including the Protector body and shoulders and Ricochet forearms.

Production notes[edit]

The "Halo World Championship 2016" logos do not canonically appear on the CHALLENGER armor.[2]

The CHALLENGER armor shares its name with a glove customisation piece available for use in Halo Infinite multiplayer, for the Mark V [B] armor core. It is not clear whether the Infinite gloves have any relation to the CHALLENGER armor set.
