It has been said that the planet has purple water, and red-gold sand, covered in huts for Sangheili to live in, and is possibly very rocky. Also, this is just a theory, but it could be possible that the dessert-like areas on the planet can reach up to 130'C. But due to the fact that Sanghelios has three suns, it might be possible that it could reach up to 390'C but this is highly unlikely. Due to the heat on the planet, it is unknown if there is any snow, or perhaps very little snow on the surface. Possibly only 5-10%.

Sanghelios is the homeworld of the Sangheili race. Sanghelios is the fourth planet in a Triple Star System of stars Urs, Fied and Joori. The planet has two Moons called Qikost and Suban. Many Forerunner artifacts and structures exist on the planet, which are the topic of worship, as well as the cause of historical wars between the Sangheili and the San 'Shyuum before the formation of the Covenant .[1]

Background

Most likely due to the fact that Sanghelios has three suns, the surface is dry, arid, and considerably hot, although water exists on the planet. Sanghelios has a gravity of 1.375 G's, and an average surface temperature of -5C to 56C (23F to 154.8F). Sanghelios is inhabited by approximately 8.132 billion Sangheili. The planet, as is illustrated in the Bestiarum indicates that it is similar to Earth in shape and extension, though the land masses are more scattered in relation to bodies of water. It's atmosphere consists of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen but also has a reddish hue to it, perhaps indicating large amounts of iron or new rock being made by the core.

It has been said that the planet has purple water, and red-gold sand, covered in huts for Sangheili to live in, and is possibly very rocky. Due to the fact that Sanghelios has three suns, it might be possible that it could reach up to 390'C but this is highly unlikely. Due to the heat on the planet, it is unknown if there is any snow, or perhaps very little snow on the surface.

Notable places: One of the most prestigious war colleges in the Iruiru region of Yermo.[2] The planet is of course home to a huge number of civilian Sangheili numbering over eight billion, as well as a large defense force (possibly a large fleet). Sanghelios was possibly the area of large conflict between Separatist and Loyalist forces.[3] At the end of Halo 3, the Arbiter, Rtas 'Vadum, and the crew of the carrier ship Shadow of Intent depart for Sanghelios to see if it is safe. The Arbiter assures Rtas 'Vadum that they have made it safe.

Etymology

The name "Sanghelios" comes from the Latin sang and the Greek helios meaning "Blood-Sun". It is implied that this may refer to the " blood" of the warrior Elites that live there.
