Moonbase Alpha is the codename for one of the Halo 3 Downloadable Content multiplayer maps . It has been described that its fairly large, and is best suited for games such as Capture The Flag and Assault. It has also been stated that it has some unique characteristics that make Slayer interesting and Infection terrifying. It was the first DLC Map to be announced, with the other being Jodrell Bank. Also in the Bungie Weekly Update 1/11/07 it said that fans of Elongation would enjoy the map. This does NOT mean it is a remake or a spiritual successor, but could relate to the fact Elongation is on a space station.

• The name Moonbase Alpha may or may not be a reference to a line said by a character in the Austin Powers movie franchise.
• The name Moonbase Alpha may or may not be a parody of Moon Unit Zappa, Frank Zappa's child.
• The name Moonbase Alpha may or may not be derived from the long canceled Space: 1999 TV series.
• It can also be a remake of Coagulation set in snow or moon-ish terrain as Frankie O Connor's favorite map is Coagulation, and he said in a weekly update that his all-time favorite map will be in this map-pack
