To do the Get Inside Destroyed Vehicles Glitch, you will first need a Spartan Laser. First, approach a vehicle (preferably a Banshee) and stand next to it (your body must be touching the vehicle). Press RT (Right Trigger), then RB to enter/ride/drive on top. Next, charge the Spartan Laser and just as you fire, enter the vehicle.

Note: you cannot drive the vehicle.
A variation on that method uses an Overshield and a Missile Pod. Person A would have the Overshield, and Person B would fire upon them while they enter (instead of throwing a grenade).

Another way to get inside a destroyed vehicle is to have someone damage the vehicle with a Fragmentation Grenade or two until it is at the point in which it will blow up if you stick someone with a Plasma Grenade who gets in it. First, get your friend to stand next to a vehicle. Next, have them  get in, stick them and board their vehicle. If done right, the vehicle should be damaged or destroyed and you should be able to ride it. But make sure you do this fast, or it will not work. Two players, an Overshield, and a Missile Pod will work just as well. The first thing to do is that the first player stand next to a vehicle with an Overshield, and have the second player with a Missile Pod fire at the vehicle while the first player gets in. If timed right, you will be in the driver's seat.

Forcing someone else to use this glitch can give you a tactical advantage over a boarder. If you get boarded while driving a Banshee, quickly ram into the nearest object. If you do this correctly, you have a chance of surviving the "accident" while your assailant is trapped inside the remains of the Banshee. Then lob a grenade or melee him to finish the job.

This has been confirmed to work with the Banshee, Hornet. Mongoose, Brute Chopper and Ghost. You will eventually respawn due to the wreckage automatically being removed from the map after a certain amount of time. It should also be noted that many have destroyed a Banshee on the river in Valhalla and that the person inside will float downstream, creating a raft-like experience. Also, this glitch works on all vehicles that you board, force out the driver, and take their place (Brute Chopper, Hornet, Ghost, Banshee), and the Warthog's gunner seat when destroyed. The glitch should work on all maps, since maps themselves do not play a part on whether the glitch will work or not; some just happen not to have certain vehicles.

As with the raft-like experience with the destroyed banshee, if the "raft" is turned upside down, the person will not be ejected. While this is only confirmed with the banshee, it should work with others as well.
Using this glitch with a Banshee on Valhalla's river will create a raft-like experience, with the player floating downstream. If the Banshee is flipped, the player will not be ejected.

It is impossible to get inside a destroyed Warthog or Brute Prowler because they don't have the right boarding style, For the Wraith or Scorpion you can simply get on the vehicle and pound it to death, you will be left clinging to the burrned out wreck. The Warthog boarding style removes both players from the vehicle so a back up animation in case it gets destroyed was not needed.

The glitch being utilized on Avalanche.

The Destroyed Vehicles Glitch is a glitch present in Halo 3. The glitch allows players to enter a destroyed vehicle, though the vehicle cannot be driven.

Instructions

Start by finding a vehicle (preferably a Banshee) and obtaining a Spartan Laser. Stand next to the vehicle (your body must be touching the vehicle). Press RT, then RB to enter the vehicle. Next, charge the Spartan Laser and just as you fire, enter the vehicle.

Another way to get inside a destroyed vehicle is to have someone damage the vehicle with a Fragmentation Grenade or two. The vehicle should be damaged enough that it will explode if one of its passengers has been stuck with a Plasma Grenade. One player (Person A) should stand next to the vehicle, while the other (Person B) should wait. Person A should enter the vehicle, and Person B should proceed to stick them and board the vehicle.

A variation on that method uses an Overshield and a Missile Pod. Person A would have the Overshield, and Person B would fire upon them while they enter (instead of throwing a grenade).

Tactical advantage

Forcing someone else to use this glitch can give you a tactical advantage over a boarder. If you get boarded while driving a Banshee, quickly ram into the nearest object. If you do this correctly, you have a chance of surviving the "accident" while your assailant is trapped inside the remains of the Banshee. Then lob a grenade or melee him to finish the job.

Additional information

This has been confirmed to work with the Banshee, Hornet, Mongoose, Brute Chopper and Ghost. It does not work with other vehicles because boarding other vehicles does not result in the attacker taking a seat.

A player riding a destroyed vehicle will occasionally respawn. This happens when the vehicle's wreckage is removed from the map after a certain amount of time.

Using this glitch with a Banshee on Valhalla's river will create a raft-like experience, with the player floating downstream. If the Banshee is flipped, the player will not be ejected.
