Halo 4 Coop Characters?

In Halo: Combat Evolved there were two identical Master Chiefs. In Halo 3 There were multiple characters consisting of the Chief, The Arbiter, and two Covenant Seperatists. Halo Reach introduced us to custom coop characters. But what about Halo 4? There may just be identical John-117's, who knows, i don't which is why I am asking, anyone have any ideas?--~~—This unsigned comment was made by GMASTER (talkcontribs). Most likely the HCE route than Halo 3's.— subtank 01:49, 3 September 2012 (EDT)
I'll repeat my answer from Q&A's...Here's my theory: The other players will be MC for the first few missions before you encounter the Infinity and after you make it to the ship, the other players will become S-IV's (either your custom made one or default models w/ Recruit armor). The switch isn't canon but logical...--Killamint [Comm|Files] 12:30, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Halo 4 Armor Customizations?

I am wondering, in Halo 4 Armor, and I could be wrong, but will the armor sets in Halo 4 be like the elite armor in reach where the armor is non-interchangeable and a strict default armor per rank. Or will we be able to change different armor pieces with other suits?--~~—This unsigned comment was made by GMASTER (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

They are interchangeable like they were in Halo: Reach.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 11:37, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Halo 4 War Games Gameplay Canon?

As you all may realize, War Games is the new name of what we players will know as Competitive Multiplayer for Halo 4. It is described as pinning players against one another in a simulated fighting experience within the UNSC Infinty. Apparently, this is the area in halo canon where actual Spartan-IV supersoldiers would fight within for training. What I'm wondering about is that when Spartan-IV's would fight with one another, we as players would see actual spartans killing one another. But for the "real" troopers, would this be more similar to virtual reality warfare, paintball, laser tag, etc. Especially since we know that "actual" troops would not fight for survival. Post your thoughts on what you think actual War Games simulations would feel like.—This unsigned comment was made by GMASTER (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

First, sign your comments! Second, the spartans actually dying may be for "gameplay" purposes just like how the ARC-920 recoils after being fired even though its a "Recoiless" carbine. But honestly, I can't say for sure aside from it being for gameplay.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 19:50, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

John-117 in cryo AND at the Circumference at the same time?

Ive played Halo Reach and recently ive read the book Halo: The fall of Reach. What confuses me is the following.

In the book, the Masterchief was assigned to destroy the Circumference allong with Linda and James. After this they immediatly returned back to the ship. Also the Pillar of Autumm remained in space and did not land on Reach, it couldnt because they where drawn from Operation: Red Flag and by the time they got back to Reach, the Covenant was all over the planet, making landing impossible.

While in the game as Noble Six, you need to bring AI Cortana to the Pillar of Autumm (which is obviously landed in the shipyard) and in the cutscene, you can see John inside a cryotube. According to the book, the cruiser never landed on Reach and neither did John enter a cryotube before they made a slip-space jump to installation 04.

It seems like the book is not complete, or the game is just wrong? —This unsigned comment was made by 178.84.100.69 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

John in the Cryo tube is an Easter egg, it's not considered canon, here.File:Colonel Grade One.pngCol. Snipes450File:Colonel Grade One.png 17:40, 14 October 2012 (EDT)
The time elapsed between the mission to Gamma Station and the Pillar of Autumn's departure was retconned. Rather than fleeing the system after retrieving the survivors from Gamma Station at 0647 hours, Keyes had the ship touch down in Aszod to recover Cortana's data. Though the Covenant had compromised most of the planet, Aszod was still secure. The Autumn remained in dry dock until around 1720 hours; when Noble Six delivered the fragment, the Autumn lifted off. Cortana, having subsumed the fragment Halsey sent, set a course for Installation 04 using both the data from the Sigma Octanus IV artifact and the Visegrád excavation. John's appearance is a non-canon Easter egg. The book is complete and the game is correct; all the apparent discrepancies have been reconciled in the 2010 version of The Fall of Reach and in the Data Drop. --Courage never dies. 17:50, 14 October 2012 (EDT)
Please see this page which provides explanations for apparent inconsistencies between the game and the book.--Spartacus TalkContribs 20:01, 14 October 2012 (EDT)

Spartan IV combat effectiveness?

Apparently, 343 industries has intoduced Spartan-IV's in the halo 4 campaign. What I'm wondering is, how effective do you think they will be in combat? Will they actually be competent troops that will be able to hold their own against the Covenant and Promethians, or are they just a suited-up version of marines and ODST's from past games? Post your thoughts--GMASTER 23:19, 14 October 2012 (EDT)

My guess is that they'll be invincible like the plot-critical allies in past games, especially NOBLE Team. They might be like Johnson and the Arbiter in Halo 3, in the sense that they can take damage but they're so durable that it hardly matters. Even if they can die they'll be extremely tough, strong, fast, and accurate. --Courage never dies. 23:30, 14 October 2012 (EDT)

Chyler Silva and Major Silva?

In the book Halo: The Flood, there is a Odst Major named Silva who is in charge of the unsc forces on installation 04 after Capt. Keyes was presumed kia. Is this family from Chyler Silva from Halo Forward Unto Dawn? —This unsigned comment was made by 145.53.175.190 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

That is unconfirmed. It either may be paying homage to the Major or the overall Halo storyline (connections and what not for the hard-core fans) or it is indeed a close relative. Some speculate that it might be her sibling, but like I said that is unconfirmed. In my opinion it is unlikely. -Killjax (talk | contribs)
Given that both of her parents are dead, if he is related I'd say he's either a sibling (as Killjax pointed out) or a cousin. We know that the Major was a Second Lieutenant in 2525, so it's entirely possible he could be either. If he was a former student of the Academy, assuming that the service commitments are the same as the US Service Academies', this would have been his starting rank upon graduation at age 18 or 19, so it's likely that he was only a few years older than Chyler when he was assigned to the UNSC Atlas the year before. It's not surprising that nobody mentioned him, given that Cadmon Lasky would have been in that same class. - DJenser 09:30, 27 October 2012 (EDT)

Xbox 360 background theme

How do you change the background theme for your XBOX360? I have yet to figure it out.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 17:22, 6 November 2012 (EST)

Its a bit weird isn't it? I think its: Social > Your Profile > Background. I think. This is from memory by the way, I don't have my xbox with me at the moment. --TentacleTornado 17:33, 6 November 2012 (EST)
I know right. I went to my profile and I don't remember seeing anything there other than changing your user name, slogan, etc...I checked system, display, and private settings- all settings, and couldn't find it anywhere. I'll check your suggestion whenever I jump back on. It's been baffling me for a WHILE. I got a theme code for preordering Halo 4 & I can't even see it :(.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 17:37, 6 November 2012 (EST)
Its is a stupid place to put it though.. I had to ask around as well to figure it out.. But I looked it up for you anyway: here you go! :D --TentacleTornado 17:44, 6 November 2012 (EST)
You the man! Yeah that IS a stupid place to put it! Why not place it under settings?! At one point I was looking for it for at least 5 minutes trying to find it and said F it since it was cutting into me playing the game. I'll definitely look for once I jump back on.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 17:50, 6 November 2012 (EST)

Heh, was going to inquire about this, but you beat me to it. Thanks for the info!--Spartacus TalkContribs 00:30, 6 December 2012 (EST)

Why didn't the Forerunners index themselves?

what i want to know is if forerunners indexed all life to repopulate after the firing of the halos why didnt they indexed themselves instead they chose humans as their successor before firing halo arrays the librarian indexed all sentinent life to repopulate after the eradication of the flood but did not indexed the forerunners for repoppulation why let themselves be extinct and choose humanity as thir successors when they coul have continued their legacy themselves. —This unsigned comment was made by Faraz (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Considering the new info from Halo 4, I'm guessing after imprisoning the Didact, the Librarian decided to give the Mantle of responsibility to humanity, and allowing themselves to become extinct.--Spartacus TalkContribs 10:41, 29 November 2012 (EST)

That seems pretty genocidal, actually, letting your own species go extinct like that. Honestly I've wondered this myself, and figured things like "they left to a different galaxy", "on other planets that humanity hasn't encountered yet", "they're still in stasis in the shield worlds and have yet to be reawakened" or "their numbers were too diminished to let them survive". A fifth, more fanony theory of mine is "they engineered a flood cure and immunized as many as they could, only that cure to turn out be false and actually be covertly infecting them." I think the third one is most likely, and intriguing. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 01:03, 6 December 2012 (EST)

they didnt need much large group of population all they needed was indexed genes to grow thier kind from scrap like humans shangheli and sanshyam and others and its very unlikely that they are in stasis in shield worlds as librarian said after improsning the didact that i leave you here the only living being in the galaxy sealed away........my guess is that they punished themselves for failing to uphold the mantle and the captain went down with sinking ship in their case forerunners died with the galaxy they swore to protect (user faraz)

Rumor has it that they moved to another galaxy, from a few pages I've spotted. Unsure where the source for that is. Punishing themselves seem pretty genocidal, considering there were billions of Forerunner civilians who didn't do anything wrong. Also, improve your spelling. No longer receiving emails for messages, friend request, etc?

I'm no longer receiving emails for messages sent to me or for friend request. This has caused me to miss a Spartan Ops request, plus I had no clue someone added me as a friend. Does anyone have any idea why or have a solution to this issue?--Killamint [Comm|Files] 10:55, 5 December 2012 (EST)

Sounds like a problem with Xbox Live. I'd go browse around Xbox.com's support section and look to see if this is some sort of an error. On the other hand, you may have accidentally disabled email in your account settings. I'd check your account settings as well.--Spartacus TalkContribs 00:15, 6 December 2012 (EST)
I was talking about through Halopedia. I was sent a message and never got a email about it, the same with a friend request. I checked my preferences just now and everything is checked out, nor I didn't modify any of those settings later (aside from modifying my custom settings [books, games]). So I'm not sure if there's a glitch or something.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 08:18, 6 December 2012 (EST)
Have you checked this preferences page? If you have, then I suggest contact Porplemontage.— subtank 08:30, 6 December 2012 (EST)
Yes, I checked that page and everything was checked (I updated it again just in case). I'll contact Porplemontage soon. I need someone to send me a test message so I can tell for sure.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 08:33, 6 December 2012 (EST)

Q: why forerunners did not index thmselve for repopulation

Q: what i want to know is if forerunners indexed all life to repopulate after the firing of the halos why didnt they indexed themselves instead they chose humans as their successor why not simply index themselves and rise again why would such an advanced civilization do they could have easily planned a come back after the death of the flood like all other species had been indexed —This unsigned comment was made by Faraz (talkcontribs). what is reclamation

When halo 4 ends didacts speech is their which ends like this reclamation has begun and we are helpless to stop it what is being reclaimed from them and by whom (faraz)

Humanity are Reclaimers, and to reclaim means to take back what once was yours. Since the Librarian bequeathed the Forerunner ecumene to humanity, the reclamation will be us discovering the Forerunner artifacts and using them to rebuild a Tier 1 civilization again. Once that's been done, the effect of the Halos has essentially been negated and the Forerunners an be said to have returned.
But the Didact there takes a more pessimistic view of this, thinking of humanity's reclamation in terms of "conquest". So he's telling whoever he's speaking to that humanity's conquest of the Forerunners has already begun and if they don't act soon then humans will win and take dominance of the galaxy. Forerunner era images

Where are the pictures featured in numerous articles pertaining to the forerunner era from? Like pictures of Forthencho, the battle of Charum Hakkor and others. I was just wondering where these pictures came from, a graphic novel? A concept art gallery? Thanks a lot, much appreciated. :) —This unsigned comment was made by ChipWasHere (talkcontribs). These images are coming from the terminals in Halo 4.--Spartacus TalkContribs 16:38, 8 January 2013 (EST)

Who could you see in a Halo movie?

Ever since the release of FUD, there had been significant talks of better chances at starting a major theatrical franchise based off the novels before the main continuity. My questions here are regarding, who could you see playing who in a franchise? Here's my shortlist:

  • Pre-HCE: Penelope Cruz as Kat, Clifton Collins Jr. as Carter, David Oyewolo as Emile, ? as Jorge and Sigourney Weaver as Halsey.
  • HCE through H3: ? as Sgt. Johnson and Rhys Ifans as the voice of Guilty Spark
  • H4 and more: Kyle Chandler as Comm. Lasky, Jessica Chastain as Sarah Palmer, and Mark Rolston as Cpt. Del Rio.

--Louis Bancroft (talk) 11:50, 13 January 2013 (EST)

Well, Ron Perlman as Lord Hood is a no brainer. But for Catherine Halsey I say the best actress for the part would be Helen Mirren. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 23:52, 14 January 2013 (EST)

Could we expand on our gameplay information?

I've said this before, and was promptly and reasonably answered, but I just kinda felt like bringing it up again. Halo is a game at it's heart, and while it does have an amazing and detailed story, I think that detailed and helpful statistics, strategies, and some other third thing should have more emphasis on this wiki. There have been a few times I've looked stuff up on this wiki looking for just this sort of information, and found it lacking. Kill times, accuracy, reload times, and anything else that affects gameplay, and as often as possible it should be put in numbers. Anyone could do some of these things, but stuff like kill and reload times are beyond me. This is craZboy557, signing off. 14:26, 24 January 2013 (EST)

Covie vs UNSC vs Forerunner Weaponry

The Covenant weapons are supposed to be more powerful than UNSC ones, Forerunner ones are supposed to be better than Covie copies. My question is, outside of balanced gameplay, how much better are they and how powerful are they in general. (I could see superheated gas melting walls and tanks and a large force kind of "glassing" a small area with small arms fire before they add the plasma grenades and heavy weapons. Or are they weaker???Lian 512 (talk) 14:46, 8 March 2013 (EST)

Well, in the books Covenant weapons are far more powerful. Marines are described as dropping from a single plasma rifle shot, and the heat has nasty evaporating effects on the bodily juices. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 15:28, 8 March 2013 (EST)

As a side question, what would it do to a vehicle or shielding/armor (energy and UNSC versions) or a starship--Lian 512 (talk) 16:04, 8 March 2013 (EST)

A few hits would burn the armor but could recover with enough time to cool off the heat. Repeated hits and the metal boils away. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 17:27, 8 March 2013 (EST)

tks--Lian 512 (talk) 19:20, 8 March 2013 (EST)

Incorrect did you know

A did you know (the one on every page) said that the ghost is the only covenant vehicle usable in every game in the series. I own Halos: Wars, Reach, CE, 2, 3, 3 ODST, and 4 and at the very least the banshee is usable in ALL of them. DMR= Wins--Lian 512 (talk) 23:08, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll remove it from the DYK page (If I can find it amongst all those DYKs).--Spartacus TalkContribs 23:17, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Energy Shielding Weakness

I would like to know if energy shields block lasers. If they do, I would like to know why the UNSC didn't switch to lasers in order to bypass shields. They are transparent-translucent, so light should get through along with lasers, that are made of light, right??? (I mean outside of games, where the splaser has to down shields due to programming.)--Lian 512 (talk) 11:42, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

Lasers are expensive. The Spartan Laser was said to cost as much as six Warthogs. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 13:33, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

I guess that answers part of the question. Are other space weapons expensive? The big question is do they curcmvent shields to damage covenant ship's hulls?--Lian 512 (talk) 23:17, 17 March 2013 (EDT)
