Vidmaster Challenge: Lightswitch
- "Let’s dive into this a little deeper and try and address some of the questions that will no doubt arise from the community. First off are the “Vidmaster Challenge” achievements. These three will not earn you any gamer points but there will (eventually) be a pay-off. We’re not going to spoil the fun just yet but suffice it to say that gamerscore isn’t everything. There is a pot of gold at the end of the Vidmaster rainbow and it is something you will want. More details later."

Vidmaster Challenge: Lightswitch is a Halo 3 achievement added in Title Update 2, in which the player must achieve the rank of 
Lieutenant in any playlist in the TU2 EXP progression system.[2] It is represented by a Lieutenant rank insignia on a green Marathon symbol.
Prior to March 31, 2012, the achievement was one of seven Vidmaster Challenges necessary in order to unlock Recon armor, as part of the Road to Recon. After this date, Bungie.net's online stat-tracking services were discontinued and the armor was given out to all players by 343 Industries in two waves, and is no longer accessible. Following the shutdown of Xbox 360 Halo online services in December 2021, this achievement will no longer be attainable.[3]
Trivia
- The achievement was named so because of the Lieutenant insignia's similarity with a household light switch.
- Keep in mind that reaching the overall rank of Lieutenant will not unlock the achievement. As the description states, Lieutenant must be achieved in a single playlist, such as Social Slayer.
