Two dogs are seen walking around an Old Mombasa street.

Dogs, also known by their scientific name Canis lupus familiaris, colloquially known as "man's best friend", are a Mammal native to Earth and have a long history of domestication by humans. Often kept as personal companions by human owners, dogs also serve as patrols in the military[1], tracking suspects and detecting illegal substances in police forces, etc.

Dogs were likely first domesticated by humans in East Asia, the lineage splitting from Wolves approximately 100,000 years ago. Since then, they have maintained close links with Humans.
