It is featured in the Halo 3 Halo 3 multiplayer level High Ground, and as of the Halo 3 Beta, has not been seen in action. However, it has been hinted to be able to fire mortar shells at ground targets. This contradicts its official name, which notes that it fires missiles at aerial targets.
