This song serves as the background music for the entire bridge cutscene on the level The Pillar of Autumn, and the piece playing from 0:35 to 1:08 is often heard when you encounter Hunters, notably on the level Truth and Reconciliation, where they are first encountered. The same piece can be heard in the Halo 3 track Brutes. From about 1:10 to 1:50, you can hear the chant from the beginning of the Halo Theme.

On the Halo 2: Original Soundtrack, part of this tune is used in the first half of the track Heretic, Hero. In the Halo 3 Soundtrack, "No More Dead Heroes" is a remake of this song. The main theme of this song is also used in Honorable Intentions.

The title is likely based on Cortana's quote during the bridge scene on the Autumn, "With all due respect Captain, this war has enough dead heroes."
