The stun rounds have been used in training for both Spartan-II[1] and Spartan-III trainees.[2] The rounds are made of rubber. Dr Halsey once stated that Stun Rounds could be lethal at point-blank range.
There is another typ of stun rounds that are used in combate semulations.
The trainees were a suit of light armor. The round will burst red paint like subtence that will freeze that part of the armor stimalating a bullit wound. These were seen in the book contact harvest.
