In Sangheili Culture, those who are skilled enough to use Energy Swords are called Swordsmen. Aristocrats, or Councilors, are forbidden from marriage because they wield Energy Swords, but are allowed to mate with any female they choose, married or not, so that their "swordsman" genes may be passed to the next generation.
